Jeremiah 39;52; John 3:22-36

Jeremiah 39

Jeremiah 39:2 Everything happened just as You told Jeremiah it would, God. Help me to trust you to fulfil your perfect will in the future just as You have done so precisely in the past.

Jeremiah 39:7 Such horrific events, Lord, and because Zedekiah wouldn’t listen to You. Nothing good ever comes from ignoring Your clear word. Please help me to follow You more closely and more obediently every day.

Jeremiah 39:15-18 Father, I trust You as did this Ethiopian preserve my life and keep me safe. When danger or difficulty or fear is my companion hold me up and protect me, Lord.

Jeremiah 52

Jeremiah 52:2 What a disturbing epitaph for Zedekiah, O Lord. Instead of evil, may my life be characterised by words and thoughts and actions that are pleasing to You (Psalm 19:14).

Jeremiah 52:27 The path to exile was taken one small step at a time, Lord. I read of all the opportunities You gave Your people to turn back to you. Help me to choose Your ways day after day, Lord, remembering that turning away in small ways can snowball into disaster.

Jeremiah 52:28-29 Pray for families who have been separated from loved ones due to war and political upheaval.

John 3

John 3:29-30 Ask God for the privilege of becoming one who prepares the way, like John the Baptist, for others to know Him. Then move aside so God can plant he seeds of faith.

Jeremiah 37, 32; Psalm 125; John 1:29-51

Jeremiah 37

Jeremiah 37:3 Lord, make me unlike king Zedekiah, let my living and my praying always harmonise with each other.

Jeremiah 37:10 I know that no one can change Your purposes, Lord, as this verse makes clear. Let me always be a willing participant in Your plans and purposes.

Jeremiah 37:17 Father, give me courage like Jeremiah to always speak up for You regardless of the circumstances or consequences.

Jeremiah 32

Jeremiah 32:8 Father God, please teach me to recognise Your voice and to know for sure when You have spoken.

Jeremiah 32:17 O Sovereign Lord! You have made the heavens and earth by Your great power. You can do anything! Nothing is to hard for You! Create a new heart in me.

Jeremiah 32:19 Lord, I praise You for Your wisdom and for Your great and mighty miracles. I praise You for the miracle of my changed heart and life.

Jeremiah 32:25 Sovereign Lord, please help me to obey You even when it looks like a losing proposition to do so.

Jeremiah 32:27 Lord, You are my God who created all the people of the world. Please prevent me from being prejudiced toward those of other cultures, and nations. You have created a beautiful variety.

Jeremiah 32:33 Lord help me not to be one who would turn my back on You. Day after day, year after year, Lord teach me right from wrong, and help me to obey.

Jeremiah 32:40 Lord, give me a heart that is driven by a desire to worship You. May everything in my life have a lesser place than You. Lord so many things are important to me, but You are so good to me. I consciously put You first.

Psalm 125

Psalm 125:2 Just as the mountains surround and protect Jerusalem, so, Lord, surround and protect your people and all those we love.

John 1:29-51

John 1:29 Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us and grant us Your peace.

John 1:37-39 Let’s remember when Jesus called us to be His followers. Thank Him for beckoning you and asking you to “come and see” the abundant life He has for you.

John 1:42 Reflect on the nature of your new identity in Christ and how it is different from your natural identity. Ponder what you have been saved from. Respond to God in thanksgiving.

John 1:51 Give praise to Jesus for becoming the way to heaven by which you can know the living God and have a relationship with him.

Jeremiah 30-31; John 1:1-28

Jeremiah 30

Jeremiah 30:2-3 Lord, thank You for inspiring and preserving the truth of Your Word throughout the ages. I thank You for men like Jeremiah, who wrote even when it put his life in danger.
Thank you Lord for allowing us to see in our generation Your promise being fulfilled, of You restoring the fortunes of Your people Israel and bringing them back home to the land that You gave to their ancestors. You said “they will possess it and live there again”. May we Your church be restored and cleansed from our besetting sins and be brought back to the place You prepared for us to live,in You.

Jeremiah 30:8 Lord, God the Almighty One. Thank You today that we serve a God that has all power. As you said to Israel “I will break the yoke from off their necks and snap their chains”. I pray for every born again believer who was purchased with the precious blood of the Lamb Christ Jesus, that You will come and break from our necks the yokes of bondage and snap the chains that drag us into sin in word, thought and deed, so we no longer will bring shame to Your name and hurt to ourselves.

Jeremiah 30:10 Lord, even in the middle of calamity and trouble, You are my light and my salvation (Psalm 27:1). I refuse to be afraid or dismayed, O God, help me to trust You completely.

Jeremiah 30:17 Lord, even though my wounds were incurable and I was left to die because of the sins I committed Father, Abba, thank You from the depths of my heart, You love me so much that even in my contamination You said “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds, says The Lord”.

Jeremiah 30:19 Lord, multiply Your people; make Your church effective in bringing more and more people into Your kingdom.

Jeremiah 31

Jeremiah 31:1 O, God, how we long to see You be the God of all the families in our nation. Please let Your healing power touch our communities.

Jeremiah 31:3 Lord, thank You for loving us with an everlasting love. Thank You for drawing me to Yourself. Where would I be without You, Lord? My life would be in ruins!

Jeremiah 31:9 God, please bless my family and friends today let them know Your presence in such a tangible way, until tears of joy stream down their faces.

Jeremiah 31:12 Thank The Lord for the many gifts He has given you. Be as specific as possible.

Jeremiah 31:16 Pray for the prodigal children in your family and church. Ask God to do whatever is necessary to bring them back into fellowship with Him.

Jeremiah 31:21 Meditate on the road signs and guideposts in your past, and ask God to use them to teach you today.

Jeremiah 31:31-32 Father, I praise You because You are a God of new things, especially the new covenant that Jesus established in His blood.

Jeremiah 31:33 Lord, this marvellous thing You done for Israel, please do it for me. Write Your laws in my mind and take Your loving hand and write them on my heart. Guide my conduct from the inside out.

John 1

John 1:1-12 Holy Word of God, without beginning or end, all glory be given to You, who created everything and in whom everything exists. You are the source of life itself!

John 1:12-13 Think about what it means to you to be a child of God. Thank Jesus Christ that He has paved the way for you to be reborn as God’s child.

John 1:14 Thank The Lord Jesus that He was willing to become human and live among us and demonstrate the love and faithfulness of God to us.

John 1:18 Dear Jesus Your Word says that You are close to the Father’s heart. I want to be there with You, gather me close. I pray.

Jeremiah 28-29; Psalm 90; 2 Peter 3

Jeremiah 28

Jeremiah 28:1-4 How easily the people were taken in by the promises of this false prophet Hananaiah whose name means “Jehovah has favoured.” Lord. Train my ears to hear only the truth of Your Word and the sound of Your voice. May I be able to quickly discern what is true and what is false, and then may I tell others, not keeping such good news to myself.

Jeremiah 28:13-14 Lord, I thank You that Your yoke fits perfectly, and the burden You give me is light. (Matthew 11:30). Help me not to be yoked to any lie that will eventually take me into deeper bondage. I want to serve You with a willing heart.

Jeremiah 29

Jeremiah 29:7 It was God’s will for the captives to become a part of the nation where they had to live, adding to the public welfare by praying and working for peace, for it was only by the nations peace that they could have peace. This is God’s will for any people. Christianity demands that every Christian add to the betterment of the society in which he or she lives, so as to make the world a better place. Pray to The Lord for peace in the place where you live.

Jeremiah 29:10 Lord, I thank You for Your ninefold restoration plan you had for Your people Israel.
1. I will visit you. 2. I will perform My good word to you. 3. I will cause you to return to your own land and place. 4. I have good thoughts toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.(v11) 5. You will call upon Me and will pray to Me, and I will hear you (v12) 6. You will seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart (v13). 7. I will be found by you (v14). 8. I will turn away you captivity, and will gather you from the nations where I have driven you. 9. I will bring you back into the place where I caused you to be carried away.

Jeremiah 29:11 What a comfort this promise is to me, Lord. Thank You for Your plans for me, plans for good and not for disaster, plans that give me a future and a hope. I submit my life and my will to Your plans, Lord.

Jeremiah 29:13 “O God, You are my God; I earnestly search for You. My soul thirst for You” (Psalm 63:1). Show Yourself to me in new ways today.

Psalm 90

Psalm 90:4 For You, Lord, a thousand years are as yesterday! They are like a few hours! Save me from a slavish, stress-filled devotion to my own timetables. Help me instead to see time eternity through Your eyes.

Psalm 90:16 God, please open my eyes so that I see Your miracles all around me. Help me as I teach my children also, so that they will grow up with an acute awareness of how gloriously You work in heir lives and in their world.

2 Peter 3

2 Peter 3:1 Lord, please stimulate wholesome thinking and refresh my memory of the wonderful things I Have been taught about You.
3:9 Thank God for His patient love as He postpones the day of judgement so that everyone will have an opportunity to know Him.

2 Peter 3:10-12 Pray that God will give you a spirit of peace and joy rather than one of fear as you contemplate the day of The Lord.

2 Peter 3:13 Lord of lords, You have made this present universe so beautiful, I can’t imagine what You have in store for us in Your new heavens and new earth where You will live all Your people in peace. Hallelujah!

2 Peter 3:18 Pray that you will grow in the knowledge of your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and be grounded and secure in your faith.

Jeremiah 24, 27; 2 Peter 2

Jeremiah 24

Jeremiah 24:7 Lord, work in my heart so that I will always recognize You as Lord. Be my God. Lord let me be like the good figs following You with my whole heart all my life.

Jeremiah 27

This chapter shows us that while God never ordains false leaders, He may use wicked leaders, even self-appointed ones to perform His purposes.
What an irony. God warns against false leaders and simultaneously uses an evil king (the Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar) to prune the people He calls His own. This chapter helps us today to see an important truth regarding how God carries out His will in history.

Jeremiah 27:5 Almighty God, by Your great power You made the earth and all its people and every animal. You can do whatever You choose. We are all in your hands, Lord, from the greatest to the smallest. Help us to recognize You for who You are and ourselves for what we are.

Jeremiah 27:14 Lord, help us to put our faith in You and Your promises and not in the words of mere humans.

Jeremiah 27:22 Lord, You promised to bring Your people back to Jerusalem, and You kept that promise, and the whole world cannot deny the fact that Israel is a nation, even if they wont accept it. I thank You because You are faithful to Your Word. Help me to speak simply and truthfully too, and always keep my word. (Matthew 5:37)

2 Peter 2

2 Peter 2:1 Pray that God will give you the desire to know and understand His word so that you can recognize those who are not teaching the truth.

2 Peter 2:4-10 Praise and adore the almighty God of justice, because He will always reward righteousness and punish evil “right to the day of judgment.”

2 Peter 2:19-20 Ask the Lord to reveal to you if there is anything besides the Spirit that has you in its control, such as addiction or recurring sin. Pray that God will disentangle you from any such thing that holds you captive.
